We're not a big fan of splash paged, but if you must do them, it's better to use animated graphics (as this firm has done) than Shockwave. Then your site will be more broadly accessible to your users (at least without the possibility that they'll have to download plugin software). We found the attorney search interface lacking. You have to know the name of the attorney you're looking for. We're not sure what the (blank) right frame was for, but page layout and navigation were good overall. We'd add more substantive content and a search engine.
