While the presentation lacks the pizzazz of other sites we've looked at, they manage to create a good first impression with their "breaking news". They announce a new web site called "orrickemerging.com" - which leads to a separate site (going directly to that domain will redirect you to a subdirectory on the orrick.com site) that profiles Orrick's emerging practices group. As a silicon valley firm, they know that at least part of their market is going to look for advice about growing a business. The navigation bar on the left is a little dark for our taste - a little color would go a long way on this site. Output from the search engine is excellent - the title of the page is presented, along with a summary of the document, the URL, and the date the file was modified. Navigation is inconsistent - some pages have links to other pages, while others link just to the Home Page. A persistent navigation bar would definitely help navigation. There is an incredible amount of content on the site - though we'd like to see dates on the articles so we could know how current the articles are. Also, presentation could be more uniform - some pages share the same dark border as the home page, while others are predominantly text and have no border at all. Attorney bios are good - and contact info is here, which we wish all firms did.
