How should we react to a site that says "We are in the process of upgrading our site. Please bear with us."? While we ran into a few "under construction" pages (a cliche we'd rather live without), the site itself seemed to be very complete. So either the site is more or less finished, or they're planning a major overhaul which hasn't yet happened. Either way, a page explaining why the upgrade will improve your experience (and when it will be ready) would be a nice touch: it wouldn't leave us guessing about what's coming. The use of a "Hot Topic" (in this case, the omnipresent Y2K problem) is a good tactic, though the information on the firm's Y2K efforts is spotty at best. One of the major sections (the Y2K Checklist) is under construction, and though there are articles, none are dated - leaving one to wonder how recently they were written, and how often the site is updated. Site presentation is very uneven - some pages have no images that would make the presentation consistent with the home page at all - click on "Upcoming Events" and you'll get a page of pure text with a few links. Functional, but hardly impressive.
