We wish more firms would pay attention to Calfee, Halter & Griswold's approach: put contact information where people can find it. If you assume that many people come to your web site to find a way to get in touch with you, then you absolutely must place that information (phone, fax, mailing address) in a convenient place. In fact, it should be in multiple places. Calfee, Halter & Griswold put it on the home page (which we think everyone should do), and also put it in other obvious places. Kudos to them. Attorney bios include a phone number and e-mail address, but are thin on biographical information. (We did like the links to practice areas - a simple touch that often gets overlooked.) Publications are listed, but not a single one is available online - this is a mistake. Listing a document - but not placing it online - is the equivalent of showing a child an ice cream cone and then taking it away. Why list it if you can't read it? The use of a small visual cue to indicate where on the site you are (a diamond appears next to the section on the navigation bar) is an excellent touch. Graphics are consistent throughout, and add a nice sense of familiarity to the entire site.
